It's A Great Way To Teach Character!

I think that one of the best advantages of homeschooling, is the incredible opportunity it gives us to instill good character in our children.
"Become wise by walking with the wise; hang out with fools and watch your life fall to pieces" (Proverbs 13:20, MSG).
Children learn character far more by association than by formal teaching. In other words, they become like those they are around.
If they spend lots of time each day with those of poor character, this rubs off and their character plummets. If they spend lots of time each day with those of good character, this also will influence them and their character will improve.
In our family we are very careful about the kinds of friends we allow our children to have.
It's commonly known that the character of many students in public or private schools is very poor. This isn't primarily the fault of the teachers or the schools, but of the parents. The character of the parents is reflected in their kids, and we end up with profanity, abuse, and violence in our schools.
Are these the type of people you want your child to hang out with? If they do, Proverbs 13:20 tells us what we can expect.
There are a lot of advantages to homeschooling, but I'd say that
character development has got to be very close to the top!
