Pros: ~We love SOS! Sure wish I had just found it sooner!~

  • The biggest pro of SOS is that it frees me up from teaching every class to each of my different grades of students! We have 6 children, 5 that are school age,and getting every class in for the day with other curriculum was stressful! They can learn independently at their computers all at the same time.

  • A pro would be the fact that they CAN be independent learners. We had a little trouble at first because they were not used to studying to learn the lessons.
    We stuck with it though and it really didn't take much time to adjust.

  • Another would be that my children are encouraged to see their progress. Grades are kept and shown for all lessons, quizzes and tests.

    When they have trouble with subjects and then choose to make more time for study...they are able to see their reward - a rising grade!

  • Also, I like the fact that all lessons and work are already determined. I don't have to prepare lessons and tests myself. I am freed up quite a bit to teach my other 2 students....who will also be enjoying SOS when they are old enough. :)

    Cons:

  • I believe the only con of SOS is that they do not have a curriculum for K-2. I am really hoping in the future they will have this available.

  • Some might believe a con would be that the student is at the computer for most the duration of the school day. For us this is not a problem. My kids love being at their own computer!

    Hope this helps in your decision to choose a home school curriculum!
